Investing in a running coach is one of the best things you can ever do, and yet so few of us do it. Is this because we think we’re too slow? Not worthy? It won’t make a difference? Well we’re passionate about making sure all of our athletes get the very best out of themselves and so as much as we love our group sessions, we particularly love writing 1 to 1 plans for athletes and working with them individually to achieve their goals.
We’re delighted that Coach Trina now offers one to one coaching for runners of a range of abilities and she recently coached member Tracy through the London Marathon. We caught up with Tracy to get her feedback…..
“In all the years I’ve been running, I’d never had a coach before now. So, when I bagged a ballot place for the London Marathon, I figured now was the time to get a coach to guide me through the training, and also take into consideration my niggling hamstring injury which I’d been carrying for 2 years.
I have to say Trina was amazingly supportive and encouraging. Every week we sat down together and went over the previous week on how I felt during the training runs and how my injury was holding up, incorporated some strength and conditioning work and looked at the week ahead. She set me various interval sessions for my mid week runs and followed with a long run on a weekend. I’ve done two marathons before this one and they can be a very lonely and boring existence and though I ran most of the sessions on my own, not once did I feel alone. Trina checked in with me before and after my long runs and sometimes even during them.
You will not find a more supportive coach, Trina will be with you every step of the way. And although I didn’t quite get the time I was hoping for, I finished with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye, because this amazing woman had helped me achieve my dream of running the London Marathon.”
