At Tri Energy we’re committed to helping and supporting athletes towards their goals; whatever they may be, but we’re also committed to spreading the love of coaching and keeping our coaches up to date with the latest in professional development to ensure you’re in the best possible hands!
The latest person to join our growing coaching team is Phil. We spent a few minutes this week catching up with Phil so you can get to know him better!
1) Who are you in a nutshell?
A family man with a passion for sport (especially outdoors)
2) What attracted you to coaching?
To be around people with the same enthusiasm for sport had always appealed to me, so to be able to encourage or advance someone’s development within a sport is something I find rewarding. I like the fact that triathlon combines three very different but equally demanding disciplines and mastering all three is a challenge within itself.
3)How did you hear about Tri Energy?
Having known Sam for a numbers of years now I have been aware of all the great work she has been doing with Tri Energy and when an opportunity came along for me to be a part of it I jumped at the chance.
4) Do you compete yourself?
I have been competing myself for about the last 9 years mainly just in cycling and more specifically time trials. More interestingly I have done many time trials on a tandem with my cousin Chris. In more recent years I got into running and that led to me doing triathlons and duathlons.
5) What’s the best bit about coaching?
The best bit about coaching is to seeing how motivated people are to be active and with Tri Energy Kids it is seeing how much fun they have whilst they are also learning valuable skills.
6) How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Motivated, Reliable, Energetic.
Phil has already absorbed a wealth of knowledge from other coaches and is looking forward to completing his first triathlon coaching qualification. Keep your eyes peeled for Phil’s coaching bio on our coaches page soon and do introduce yourself if you see him at one of our sessions. Welcome to the team Phil!
