Hi I’m Emily. I started running about 8 years ago having never really done any sport before. I mainly started running to help with weight loss but quickly realised the amazing other benefits.
I love being outside, in any weather and nothing destresses me like a good run. I gradually built up to my first 5k and joined a running club. Then decided to go for a half marathon! After that, there was no stopping me! I’ve taken part in a wide range of different running events, including marathons, ultra-marathons, 12 hour and 24 hour multi-lap events, mud runs and obstacle runs, cross country championships and more.
Some of my proudest achievements have been completing a 50 mile ultra-marathon, running a sub-four hour London marathon, and twice being part of the winning ladies pair in the 12 hour Lightning Run.
After having my little girl Jessie last year, it took me longer than I had hoped to get back into running. I started with park run and weekly running sessions with my running mum friends when we would take our little ones along in their running buggies. I gradually built my fitness back up and with the help and support of friends and family, ran my first post-baby half marathon when my daughter was 7 months old, and my first marathon when she was 10 months.
I have a leadership in running fitness qualification and was a run group leader with my local running club for a number of years. I’ve worked as a coach in a number of couch to 5k groups and love supporting those who are new to running. It only seems like 5 minutes ago that I was a total beginner myself and I love helping others to start their running journey.
