Saturday saw four of our kids take part in the Wombourne Aquathlon. We always love hearing how the kids get on so were particularly excited to receive this race report from Derren (Jensons’s Dad) who tells us a little more about the day.
“The event was very professional and very well organised with the marshals doing a great job of encouraging the kids, particularly the little ones who all looked a little nervous.
Jenson really looked the part with his timing chip strapped to his ankle and his race numbers inked on his arm and lower leg, although he was slightly perplexed when the lady at the check-in started to draw them on with a thick black marker pen!
We caught glimpses of the other Tri Energy Kids throughout the afternoon and they all had smiley faces before their races, focused ‘race’ faces when competing and look of utter exhaustion when they had finished although this soon disappeared as they collected their finishers medal, bottled water and Cadburys cream egg!! They all gave it 100% that’s for sure!
Dan finished 7th male in Tri Star 3 in a time of 17:44
Bobby also finished 7th male in Tri Star 1 in a time of 10:57
Sammy also finished 7th female in Tri Start n a time of 5:45
And last but not least…..
Jenson finished 1st male in Tri Start in a time of 5:15 despite having the worlds longest transition when his t shirt got stuck around his shoulders. This was particularly ironic as we had been practicing transitions in the morning and thought we had it mastered – unfortunately we had practiced when he was dry and overlooked the swimming pool factor!”
Well done to everyone who took part! We’re looking forward to more and more race reports flooding in as the season gets underway!
