Tri Energy Kids is out for the summer – and we’re missing them already! We hope that you’re all enjoying the summer break and we can’t wait to see you again soon! We wanted to say a big Thank You for another great year and also a thanks to all those who came along to the bowling social, what a wonderful evening it was – and it was clear to see the strong friendships that have been made which is fab! We’re so proud of all the children and what they achieve both on and off the cycle track!
Please make a note of the 6 week block bookings for the new academic year:

The fees remain the same at £35 per 6 week block booking. Payment options include a £17 monthly standing order or a bank transfer with your child’s name as the reference (both of these options are preferred as it saves time/admin on a Monday evening). The bank details for your information are:
Tri Energy Kids
However, if this is not possible, cash or cheque are fine.
All of our swimming will now take place at the new leisure centre which you can find out more about by clicking on the link here:
For ease, we’ve gone for the first Sunday of each month, sticking to our 8-9am swimming slot. So dates for your diary are:
However please note we couldn’t face Sunday 1st January so for that month we’ve gone for the week after (the 8th!) All children are welcome to swimming regardless of ability or experience. We adapt the coaching to suit all and book 2 lanes to ensure there’s plenty of space. We have received really wonderful feedback about the children’s progress, thank you for your kind comments.
The swim fees are payable on a ‘pay as you go’ basis and remain at £5 for the hour.
Open Water Swim Day
Unfortunately, we had to cancel our planned open water swim trip to Stanton Lakes on Sunday 31st July due to some last minute cancellations. This was a real shame as we know the children would thoroughly enjoy it so we’re trying to reschedule for Sunday 11th September. The day would be 10am-1pm at Stanton Lakes which is about an hour away and would be coached by one of the
top swim coaches in the UK, Jai Evans of Swim Station. The cost for the day is £25 which includes a classroom based session, an open water swim, video analysis and lunch. If you are interested in this please do register your child’s name and then, if the day is viable, we will confirm numbers and ask for payment up front. If I could ask you all to respond by August 19th that would be great.
Group Turbo Sessions
We’re delighted to be able to offer some indoor winter cycling for the older children. Unfortunately this will only be available for children who are aged 11 or older and will be run and organised by coach Jamie, who is also the founder of Success Cycling. The hour indoor session will involve the children cycling on their own bike on a turbo trainer which is
supplied by Jamie. The indoor studio has a giant screen (it’s like being at the cinema) which helps keep the sessions interesting. The sessions are probably only suitable for those who have road bikes (mountain bike wheels are too big to fit in the turbos) but if you are unsure please speak to Jamie one Monday evening and he can advise. Please note their will be some adults also coached by Tri Energy who will be joining the sessions so it is not a child only session. We’re sorry this is not available to our younger members but hope it gives them something to look forward to as they get older! The dates and times of these sessions are as follows:
A 10 week block at £40 which is payable to Success Cycling
From 3rd October to 5th December
Thursdays 7pm-8pm (you may wish to arrive quite a bit earlier to set up)
Imperial Avenue, Kidderminster, DY10 2RA
Please email me by Tuesday 13th September to reserve your childs place.
As you know we have T-Shirts and Hoodies that the children can purchase. We also have trisuits but these require a minimum order of 5. I currently have 2 parents looking to buy trisuits; is there anyone else that would like to purchase one? They are excellent quality and perfect for swimming sessions and events so do let me know if you’d like to put an order in. If there is any other kit that the children would like, please let us know as we’re always open to suggestions and know how exciting new kit can be!
SYtri are holding a Junior duathlon on Sunday 4th September. This is available to children of a range of ages and comes with lovely reviews. For more information and to register your child please visit http://sytri.org/races/junior-duathlon
Another race that maye be of interest is the Caludon Castle Aquathlon on 20th August, but this is only available for children aged 11+.
Our summer term ended on a real high with a lovely interclub duathlon with Evesham Tri Club. We are hoping to join forces again in the autumn term and hold a mini event for all club members one Saturday or Sunday. This of course will be free of charge and we hope to source some medals again to give a really nice vibe to the day. We are just in the beginning stages of planning at the moment but we will keep you posted.
We also plan to hold our annual Santa Dash Event and plan another Park Run Takeover so keep an eye out for dates to follow!
Since Tri Energy Kids started in 2014 we’ve gone from strength to strength and have since branched out into putting on local events in the community and coaching a number of adults too. We’re coming towards the end of an 8 week progressive couch to 5k course which some of our Tri Energy Kids parents have attended and it’s been a great success. We’ll be running another couch to 5k and
beyond programme starting in October on the running track on Mondays
(630-730pm) which is straight after Tri Energy Kids so if any parents fancy giving it a go just drop me a message, more information is attached on the flyer.
Following on from the back of our Go Tri Event in May, we’re also planning a beginners aquathlon (200m swim / 2k run) on Sunday 9th October. We’re just firming up the venue and plans but watch this space. Again, this is available to both children and adults as we’re really trying to encourage Fun, Fitness for all the Family! If any body would be willing or able to volunteer on the day that would be great, I’m sure we’ll be able to sort out some sort of goody bag so drop me a message if you’re interested. Marshalling is always fun and a nice way to stay involved in sport.
Keeping in Touch

Finally, we know some of our Tri Energy Kids are starting at new schools in September. We’d like to wish them an extra special bit of luck in settling in and hope that their school days are fun, positive and enjoyable.
Look forward to seeing you all back on the 12th September.
